Hi,

I just got Alesis SA-16 drum machine and I was wondering what is the best way to record drums using Toneport KB37?
I mean what input/outputs to use, is there anything specific that I need to do/know, etc.?
If there is a tutorial explaining how to record drums with drum machine using audio recording hardware please post the link here.

Thanks for your help,

Peter

Your Alesis drum box has a 1/4 inch plug OUT--insert 1/4 inch plug and go to the INPUT plug of your recording gear. [I'm not familiar with your recorder.]

If you're recording into a PC, you may have to get some type of interface to get connected to the RCA plugs, if that is the situation.

Quoting Blue Bear somewhat, "What goes in must go out...." I do know the Alesis SR 16--kind of old technology as I replaced mine with a Boss 880--very nice drum box and still popular. However, it's about time that Boss comes out with a newer model, as they usually do.

So, when you have your drums "coming through" to your recording channel, you will need another channel to play guitar, keys, or theremin. [That's one hellova an Ax.]

If you do multiple track recording, in whatever foremat, you will have to mix the recorded tracks to a stereo track if you want the music on a CD.

Very basically and simply, that is the routine.
