Hi, just need some helping i got 2 condenser microphone 1 snare microphone and 1 bass microphone and i have got YAMAHA MW12c Interface/Mixer. Im recording ok on it so far just need to find out how to put each microphone to have it own aduio track.

I Would Be Very Thankful If You Could Help Me

Thanks Subway

So i will have to have 6 microphones in one Track? Is this a bad thing?

Thanks for your time and help Subway!

Yes its a bad thing because you wont be able to indivisually tweet, mix, and master each track. You could just record one thing at a time, and then record all the drum mics together, but its still a hastle.

You could split it to one track for left and one for right but that's about it.

I take it this will apply for all instruments we were to plug in? Say if we plugged guitars in to the mixer it would still record on the same track as the mics? Just out of interest what sorta machine would allow multi track recording with multi xlr inputs? Cheers fellas

Yeah, just one stereo or two mono.

I use a presonus Firestudio that does the job. There are dozens of options though. Check out the tweakheadz site. Here's a link to their guide on interfaces Audio Interfaces and Soundcards

Thank very much for the help so far. Could I record bass then record the guitar and put in the same track on Cubase 5 ? If so how do I ?

Once again Thank you.

For sure. lots of people do that exact thing. Maybe do a scratch track with everyone so you have something to play against and then just record them one at a time. Keep adding tracks and record away.
