I've heard it "New-man" and "Noy-man."

i wanna know how to pronounce neve, phonetics would say that the first e is said how the letter e is pronounced when saying the alphabet. But who the fuck would name their company after themselves if their name was nEEve.

It sounds much better pronounced "Nev"

Rupert Nev sounds like a really classy guy

Rupert nEEve sounds like a skEEvy guy

so which is it

Personally, I like to say "Telefunken" whenever possible. You can use it in everyday conversation. For instance, when your daughter is going out on a date with some guy you really hate, you can say to your wife....

"Telefunken boyfriend he better keep his hands to himself or he's toast!"

See how well that works? ;)

In America it's pronounced:
Noy-man

Proper German pronunciation is very difficult to write phonetically, but :
New-man is closer to being correct although a little bit of: Noy-man is in there too.

I pronounce it: Noy-man because I'm sick and tired of being corrected by everybody.

:D LOL nice try...

I can categorically state that the correct German pronunciation is "NOY-MUN":

NOY as in Toy
and MUN as in Gun

= NOYMUN

I speak German, and it's noy-man. Sorry, rimshot, no umlaut in this one.-Richie

Hey Richie!

...wenn du wirklich ein bißchen deutsche babbeln kannst, denn weißt du schon, das man sagt "NOYMUN" also, NeuMANN wie "GUN", nicht NeuMAN, wie "CAN", oder?!? Du hast bestimmt ein echt übel Ami Akzent :D ! Nur als Spaß gemeint Kumpel! Sagst du die Leute bescheid, gel? NOYMAN ist falsch, NOYMUN ist die richtige Aussprache.

Dingo :)

Haven't tried to write that since high school which was 28 years ago so it's probably really badly done. (lol) Hey, what do you expect from a guy from Jersey?

I agree on that! Nev sounds much better than Neeeeve, but unfortunately I believe it is pronounced "Neeve". (yuck!) :p

If I was a studio owner i have to admit that this would really make me hesitate about buying anything neve

Sir Dingo - ich dachte, daß die richtige Aussache 'NOY-mahn' sein würdet, stimmt's?

Mein Deutsch ist ein bißchen rostig, aber... :)

I always thought it was closer to 'mahn', like almost the way they pronounce CNN anchor Paula Zahn's name, except with a slightly shorter a. The 'a' being pronounced like the 'a' in car, perhaps.

das es nit fer ger fingerpoken und mittengraben!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ flatcat

Du sprichst aber gut deutsch! Nope, the pronunciation "mahn" already exists in the language. Neumann literally means Newman (as in Paul). And the double 'n' on the end of 'mann' means it's pronounced extra short. Your german's not bad, but you wouldn't pronunciate the inroduction a wife and husband as Frau und MAHN, would you? It's Neumann. Neu as in BOY and mann as in GUN.

Say out loud BOYGUN, then NOYMUN and you've got it = Neumann :)

Dingo

I know its supposed to be Noi-man, but I don't care!!
I'm an American, so I'm going to American-ize it and say New-man.
(And if you don't like it... tuff shit!) :p
Noi-man sounds stupid! It sounds like someone with a terrible New England accent trying to say Norman.

As far as nEEve goes:
Its Rupert nEEve,
But its Neve Campbell?
Go figure.

is that kinda like 'Michael Jackson'
and ....................'Michael Pfiffer"? <--- is that how you spell her name?

Its Rub-bish. Like it sounds.

This could really differ by region too. Do germans from southern germany speak with a drawl? Would the northern germans argue the pronounciation with the southern germans, like is done on some words by yanks and rebs here?
