How to playback MIDI files on external module?

I have Yamaha SW1000XG sound card on my home PC that has a lot of voices (not only General MIDI) and it sounds really good when I playback MIDI files at home. But if I want to copy MIDI files on my laptop (with Sonar installed), and take it outside, for example in the club or other party, which sound module/sequencer should I use to have the same sound/voice/sample quality? (up to ~$300 OBO)

Thanks for every response.

Funny, your question isn't at all what your thread title suggests.

I'd say look into something like one of the Roland Sound Canvases. I'm sure Yamaha has some lower-end little box that might even have the same patches on it as the Yamaha card does...

Or -- what are the specs on your laptop? If it's a recent-enough machine (which it probably is if SONAR runs OK on it), you can use the VSC DXi (Virtual Sound Canvas) that comes with it (DXi means DirectX instrument). That would be your cheapest solution.

Thanks AlChuck for your reply, I will try this and, just in case, I will move my post into Keyboard and Soundmodule section.
