Hi, I'm having some trouble finding something online.

Here's the thing:

I have a Reason Electric Bass Refill Software and Reason, with Sound Blaster Audigy (that has Midi Inputs and Outputs). And I have a Standard Fender Strato Audio Guitar (with no Midi outputs).

I want to use my guitar, to record the Bass, turning my audio sounds into midi ones. And, I'd like to use some other Keyboard Soft Synths as well, playing with my guitar.

The only way to do it, is buying something like "the AX-50 Axon USB Guitar MIDI Converter", or a Midi Foot Controller, like the "Behringer FCB 1010" can convert the signal? Also, can the Behringer "Usb Guitar Link Ucg102" do this?

Thanks!

If I understand your question correctly, you want to be able to convert the output of a regular Fender Strat into MIDI information for subsequent editing and/or control of MIDI data. In order to do so, you will need a special Hex pickup (one pickup per string) retrofitted to your Strat and fed into a device that can understand and translate this information (a pitch-to-MIDI converter such as the Axon unit that you mentioned, among many others) into the correct format. There are also other means to do so, such as using a Roland VG-99, which are more expensive but don't require a special pickup for your guitar.

Do not despair. What you want to do can be accomplished, but just not the way that you are envisioning. And not without some expense on your part.

The Behringer FCB1010 will NOT accomplish this for you! It is simply a programmable MIDI control pedal, designed to send MIDI control messages to your MIDI gear. Very useful, but not for your intended purpose. Likewise, the Ucg102 won't help you, either. It is designed for another purpose.

You need some education, that's all. Don't spend a dime until you know what to spend it on! Try going to http://midiguitar.net/ and http://home.epix.net/~joelc/midi_git.html for starters. Read, and ask questions on those websites. Try Googling "MIDI guitar" and variations of the same. There's a ton of info out there regarding MIDI guitar.

I've been doing the MIDI guitar thing for several years, and I'll be glad to answer any questions that you have. Just PM me...

Have fun!
