Ok guys I just picked up an Akai MPK25 yesterday & need help figuring out how to map the pads & the dials/controls.

I'm using Cubase 5 for MIDI.

I'm totally clueless. I can get the keys & pads to make music, but cant figure out how to map them for quick & easy access.

Thanks

I just did a quick search on Google and found your exact question asked 3x on a forum site called Cubase.net, but nobody answered the question there, either.

Because I have some experience using Reason 4.0 with MIDI controllers, all I can suggest, or ask you, is - does Cubase have a "learn mode"?

In Reason, you go into a special mode "Learn", and whatever knobs, sliders, pads, whatever MIDI controller it happens to be, -- will then get mapped to the thing on Reason's software that you want it to control.

Actually, you click the thing on Reason's control surface you wish to control first, then move the MIDI controller on your hardware second. Then, save.

Yeah thats what I was trying to find too after reading something some where else.

I'm not sure to be honest but I'm going to ask my professor tomorrow.

I think I have to map it via the Vyzex MPK25 software that came with it

Read up the section on setting up a "generic remote" in the manual

are you still having problems

ive just this second had my mpk25 arrive judging by breifly going throught the manual i think that you can either change the settings via VYZEX or you can do it manually, the best thing to do is to find out any relevant cc numbers to your cubase and then assign the knobs to do whatever you want them to do, this can then be saved as a preset onto the MPK you can store up to 30 presets to controll your software, i hope this helps.....

also i work with pro-tools and for midi learne i right click on a plug-in control and then turn whatever knob on me keyboard this will then control that parameter.
