Hi John
I have the hoontech c-port, a 24/96 card with 10X10 simultanious (2 xlr with pres and phantom power,8 unbalanced 1/4",plus stereo S/PDIF)costs about $400.Musicians Friend is selling them as SA Audio DSP24 or something like that but it is the same card and breakout box.
My recording software is n-track

aardvark q10....8 channels with 8 preamps.....$750

any cheaper ways??? alos are there any web sites that specialize in theese types of products??

how cheap $$$$?

do you have any preamps available you can use?.....

That C-port is gonna be the cheapest way you can get 8 tracks input.

Is that 8 tracks at a time to 8 tracks total?

Protools free is about the only multitracker I know of that is limited to 8 tracks total. So just about any multitracking software will do.

If you want to track 8 tracks at a time, take a look at the M-Audio Delta 1010LT. There you have 8 inputs and outputs for around $400. It has preamps built in on the first two channels, midi and digital i/o. Then all you need todo is pick up a few more preamps. The audio buddy preamps are only $79 for 2 channels.

Yes the Line 6 POD's can be used as preamps but for gtrs only.

Somebody please answer this question I have:

I am a solo musician and I want to use the studio as my instrument. I'm not worried about recording a live band, 8 tracks-at-once kind of thing. I have Cubase VST/32 and rely heavily on VST instruments at the moment. So would I be silly to buy the C-Port, if I'm on a low budget... shouldn't I just buy something with only a couple of analog inputs that has MIDI as well and spend the rest of the money on buying a better mic/preamp for my vocals/guitar? (It has to work with AMD/Win2000 combination, too!) If you can answer this question you'll save my life and I'll appreciate you so much for that. :)

Matt
