im just about to take over a recording studio and i am very new at this so there will be many more questions to come. but for starters, there is no control/equipment room, so i was going to seperate the gear from the recording space with flats. is this a good idea? and how do i make them?
thanks, ben

gobos/partitions are'nt going to isolate the instruments sounds from your control area if it's in the same room.

i know that it wont isolate the instrument sounds from the control area, but will it isolate the gear sounds from the mics?

they will help to minimize bleeding from other instruments. just know that nothing will be completely isolated being in the same room. a decent gobo could consist of a piece of plywood or mdf and a piece of rockwool or 703 insulation and some fabric. one side would be reflective if needed and the other side would be pretty dead.

change of plans

we decided to just make one of the iso-booths into a control room. it has no window, but it'll do for now. still; any gobo-makin' instructions would be helpful. thanks, ben
