How to make drum lines/rythum?

Is there anyway I can create drum lines using computer and recording softwares?(btw I am using Cool Edit Pro 2.0)

I don't mean "recording" drum, but more like what you do in guitarpro, where you specify the bpm and add the drum sounds at the beat you choose.

I am a newbiz on all these, so thanks lot for the help!
