how to make a Click Track

Hi.

Im playing in a metal band called Amplified.

I have tried to find out how to make a click track, and which programme would be ideal to use..

I need it to be free, but i still have some requirements for the programme:

- The "click" sound have to sound like a cow-bell, or at least be pleasant to hear, instead of a high pitch note that is gonna kill you.

- you have to be able to change the tempo in the middle of the track: this means that the programme can split the track up in bars (according to the tempo).

I am a bit lost here, until now i have tried with Audicity and Cool-edit..

Any help is appreciated..

REAPER would be worth checking out.
It's pretty versatile with it's metronome and tempo mapping.
 
Okay, so now i installed Reaper, downloaded a cowbell.mp3.

Is it possible to take the track down, and save it like a normal soundfile like .wav or .mp3?
