How to knock down a JPEG to 65K...

I have some pictures I would like to post, do not have anyplace that people can link to, and they are all larger than 65K. Any hints on how to compress these so that they can be posted?? I have Adobe Photoshop Elements if that could be used.

In PhotoShop 7 The adjustment is under the image tab You can go there and and resize the image.

ya....but how do people post those super large pictures and keep the size down?

Here is the very simple way. Hope you have Microsoft Paint in your computer. Open the jpeg in MSPaint and click IMAGE -> STRETCH/SKEW > reduce the 100% horizontal and vertical to some lower equal value (like 30% each) Thats it.
 
Damn shame the software doesn't provide feedback on the image's memory utilization as you manipulate the image!

Using PhotoShop Elements go to File/Save For Web. This allows you to size your photo, in your choice of file formats, resolution, size, etc.. and shows you the memory utilization that results. When you're happy, you save it. Results in huge pictures... results under the studio building thread. Word to the wise... the size of the picture is LESS than what it will be when it is saved to disk, so reduce the picture until it takes up about 60K. I saved one when it took up 64K, but when it was saved to disk the size blew up to about 68K and I couldn't upload it.
 
There is a thread in the Rack forum where a bunch of us were uploading images and we got away with some large files. I put some animated gifs up that were pushing 170kb

Also, You can reduce the file size quite a bit if you open the properties and reduce the colors from 16million to 256. The pics still look fine for putting on the web.
