i have a gateway 450 and i have been doing a lot of recording using sonar. it's just a stock creative soundcard and i'm using Boston speakers with a woofer but there is no kind of headphone out on those. is there is a way to hook up some headphones in addition to my speakers. What i have been doing is jsut taking one of the 1/8 wires to one side of the tweeters and using that ran straight into a pair headohones, but it is not stereo and it's kind of crude. what i want to be able to do is have the headphones at a certain level and the speakers at a different level(i'd like to be able to control each indepently). also would like to have stereo on both the speakers and the headphones. i was thinking of something that i could split the digital signal out of the computer with and then have some kind of a small headphone amp. but do they make such a thing that will take a digital signal. and if they do how much would something like that cost.

Creative as in soundblaster? Should have a phone out jack with lvls controlled in software mixer within the cards software.

its a Creative soundblaster audio pci, but it's odd because the inputs and outputs are not on the pci slot they are above by the com ports and usb. I have never seen a phone output on the back. i have a line in, mic in, and speaker out. like i said it is a stock card that came with the computer.

It's not a card, it's an integrated audio chipset. Use the speaker jack for headphones. If it's not powered, then either get some powered computer speakers that have a mic port, or buy a headphone amplifier.
