how to get this sound

the sound I am after is the first 25 secs of the video. It is the lead instrument, it is kind of playing along with the rhythm of the other instruments also.

What is the lead instrument playing?? is it a guitar or bass played in higher octave??
what effects should i use if any??
basically how can you get it??

Sounds kind of like octaves. So say an E on the 5th string (A) 7th fret and again at the 3rd string (G) 9th fret. To me it sounds fairly clean.

I just picked E as an example,never bothered to figure out the actual song.

I have always loved the low-string-Tele-thing, whether it be James Burton or Steve Cropper it's just a great sound... kinda sick and kinda cool at the same time.
