HI,
My name is Joshua, and my band is going through a phase, as they all do. The problem seems to be that I am in school for a degree in the recording industry, graduating in 1 1/2 years, and what I'm learning seems to be very frustrating to my bandmates, who don't agree with what I'm being tought. The school is well known and respected by the industry, but it is also tearing my reality of bands apart. These are my brothers, my family, or at least it feels like it. When we record music now we seem to always end up disagreeing on techniques, such as riding faders during tracking.
The band has all but quit practicing. We all are very fond of each other, yet we feel that crazy vibe when we meet, like brushing it under the carpet. I feel like i should be going completely crazy right now with pride and anguish simultaniously. Does anybody have any suggestions, we are good as a band, but can't seem to see eye to eye. My band mates say "I don't care what you learn in school" and "you have a lot to learn about the music business" at the same time.
Frustrated to the point of.... please reply
