please would anyone tell me how to change the speed of the song without changing its pitch? thanks a lot.

What DAW are you using? Are you looking for quality, or just learning a guitar solo? There are cheap ways, and not as cheap ways to do this, depending on your goals.

There must be a new mastering plug-in I haven't heard of...

To take the guy seriously... yes it's called timestretching. Maybe you already have it in your audio program.

You can change the speed and the pitch, the speed but not the pitch, or the pitch but not the speed.

You can only change it so much. Any more and it starts to produce audible nasties.

In my old Wavelab 4 it's under Process/Time Stretch.

I think sequencing on a keyboard is a great option, and after you get all your backing tks. exactly how you want them, just sync the sequencer up to your digital recorder,DAW etc. and add your vocals/real drums/real guitars etc etc :D

Thankk you all for the advice i've used the timestrech of sonar8.5 and it did what i want.
