This question was asked of Roland's Laura Tyson over at VS-Planet, and her reply was:
Paul,
To bypass the mic pres in the 1600, just connect a LINE LEVEL out put from your external preamp
into the 1600's 1/4" jack, and keep the Preamp Gain knob (on the 1600) turned
all the way down.
Hint: when tracking vocals in the 1600, try it with the COSM effects OFF. (Make sure the button is not lit.)
You might like the sound better without printing the COSM effects.
But try it both ways, to be sure.
