how to age amp Knobs?

hi there,

I have a 74 Fender Bassman 50 w/ one knob missing (you know, the typical Fender "black witch-hat" knobs).

I can probably get a new knob fairly easy - but I am pretty sure it will stand out of the rest ... any idea on how to "age" it?

I was thinking of putting it into a plastic bag together with some stones pebbles sand and other stuff and beat it around a bit...

any other ideas?

cheers

1. Set it on the roof of your house for a year.
2. Give it to a three year old.
3. Carry it in your pocket with your keys.
4. Replace the rest of the knobs.
5. Sand blast it.
6. Swap the knobs so that the new one is the volume.
7. Feed it to your dog, and wait. Repeat.
8. Soak it in Coca-Cola
9. Soak it in Rum.
10. After none of the above techniques work to your expectations, mix #9 and #10, put your "new", mangled, sandy, crappy, sticky, skinky knob back on the amp, have a good drink and enjoy yourself.

I'd get a few replacements and you could try various methods... perhaps leave it in the oven, set on a temperature not high enough to melt it, might give it some age?

Ok my guess that might actually work, sand blast it, not too much but just a bit. Then put it under one of those tanning lamps... I could see the headlines now, crazy man brings plastic knobs in to tanning salon.
