it almost sounds like a double vocals low in the mix all the way trough. i know almost every band has that in a lot of songs...but this sounds like something els. any one?

Almost all rock has double/triple even quad vocals layers. Heavy compression and distortion in parts.

There are at least two or three vocal performances. Every once in a while, the second one goes to a harmony. There is an awful lot of auto-tune as well.

There is no big trick here. Just record the vocal part twice and mix it in. You have to be pretty tight with the performances for it to sound like that.
