Yep everyone has their own ass kicking event. Mine was a older carvin electric. It was a blond custom job with stereo output dual s duncan humbuckers and a nice case to boot. It played like a dream and was in awsome shape but, we lost our bass player and I needed a decent bass. Music store said they would give me $150.00 for it. HA I said If I'm going to get rid of this for $150 it won't be to you. So I sold it for quick cash to someone I knew and used that money for a down payment on a loan for a P.O.S. bass. Better they got it for a steal than apple music who could turn around and sell it for at least $500.00.

Still bugs me and it was 10 years ago or better.

Dont sell it, the guitar is priceless and irreplacable. Just go buy another.

hmmm

first of all i wouldn't sell it ,but, haveing said that your not gonna get what it's worth simply becuase you've changed pickups .i have 2 schools of thought and most people i think would agree ,if you want to sell it keep it clean and original ,if you want to upgrade ,you better keep it or find somebody just like yourself to buy it from you ....you generally lose value when you tinker....later

guitar

If your pal is such a clod that he won't listen to your advice, you should buy the guitar from him, and sell yours.

$.02

Ya I think I will offer to trade and if he says no. I'll hit him with the fact he will not beable to buy anything that plays as nice as mine new for under about 3 grand!!

Of course I would't really trade, but it will get the point across.

Well I won the war with Dan. I fixed his guitar and that make him very happy. The supposed guitar guru that rewired the SG never checked the saddle ground so the strings where serving as an antana for any rf interferance.. I gould see where he had tried to get to it and had broken off a screw, seems as if that's as far as he got. being a solid copper wire against a brass plated tail peice it had oxidised (or what ever copper does) over the years.

Thanks for all the ammo guys!

Have him take to guitar to PRO to get the electronics fixed, and have him buy pedals if he wants to change his tone....
I would rather murder my tone than my guitar....

It is fixed... The pro did not fix it. One of his complaints when he took it in was noise. The "pro" sold him all new pots & pickups and didn't fix the ground.

Sorry for missing your latest post.

BTW - I don't use pros for guitar electronics, I do it myself. Techs usually work at music stores, which in my area are quite shady.

I'd tend to agree:D

I am in Phoenix and this is considered one of the biggest cities in America now....we have ONE true guitar shop called Bizzare Guitar. We have Guitar Center and they are fine if you just need cables and EFXs and stuff, but for fixing you guitar or anything important, there is just the one place. All of our other guitar shops are about as shady and blood sucking as can be.

For example-

I took my 52 RI Tele into figure out why my Lead pickup was cutting out. They did do anything exect charge me. When I picked it up it was still on the fritz. So I had them replace it with a Texas Special and that fixed the problem.

Ok

New Problem!

I put the guitar back in the case at the shop (I ain't going home to come back) and pick it up and whooooosh!!!!!!!!! Case open guitar on the ground. I look at the case and say is this mine? They say of course it is. We haven't had a Tweed Fender case in almost 3 weeks. So I look at the case closer and notice that the locks are trashed and there is still the factory plastic covering the locks. I am a freak for that kind of shit and remove that stuff as soon as I get something. Not my case. Lying FUCKS. They still tried to play it off after I expained my neurotic fixation with crap like that and said that maybe I just missed some. ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! The whole lot of plastic was still there....none missing.

Oh yes. The place in question is called

BOOGIE MUSIC

Is that clear enough? ...let me repeat.

BOOGIE MUSIC

I am sorry....I went a little overboard saying

FUCK BOOGIE MUSIC!!!!!!!!!

Now I fix everything I can by myself. I will even try experimenting inorder to save the hassle of a music shop (and some of that, I am better than you attitude, like they got picked on hardcore in school)

I am still considering lowering the action on my D41. But i might go to Bizzare Guitar for that. A little much to gamble with. =)

Sorry guys just a test

I am switching servers and making sure my notification works.
