How much do you charge?

I CHARGE $500 a beat that price will elimate all of the garbage rappers and singers who beg me for beats. so i only get top quality clients

Yeah, sure you eliminate the less fortunate ones, but that's exactly what they are...less fortunate...as in: "I don't make a ton of cash...but that doesn't mean I'm not skilled..." Either you're one of dre's unknown nephews or you're way off the chart here. I don't mean to down you or anything, but for $500 bucks the beat ought to be damn good. By charging that high a prize you're minimizing your potential clients, which may or may not have alot of money. I have a hard time thinking that you sell alot of them.

So in your view: Any rapper/singer that can't put out 500 for a beat is garbage?
You better be a damned skilled producer. I'm talking freakin' great here...
To put it simple; Keep your fee high man, cause the ones that you ignore (due to lack of money) will come to us (the ones that does this shit for the love of music, not greed for money)

Eh? 500$ a beat? I really love your music but thats a little expensive for somethign that has been made with a 150$ program :(

I think it depends on the situation. Sometimes you must give things away just to get your foot in the door. Sometimes it's the "Little man" that can blow up on your sh*t and now you have another link to getting in the door. 500 duckies is a lil steep but to each their own...........I think every situation dictates different approaches. To have a set fee of 500 duckies, it will probably turn off many potential clients. I negotiate whatever I have, whenever I am approached. I feel like there is more beats in me to make where those come from. (Unless you feel that your ability is limited) Let it go! Go get paid and stop trying to break the bank.

Our tracks bymadstyles is usually in a package deal since I also record, mix and master I usually just lease the beat for around 50 then record and mix for 35 and master for 25 if that's what they want. Thats about 100 bucks for a quality product and usually cats come thru to do demo's I just charge them 175 bucks and they can come thru when they have at least 100 dollars to get one track done. If they want packaging that an extra 35 cause we also have a on board artist. Most cats I deal with are broke so I try not to break them if they talented I give them advice as well (Like dont buy those new sneakers spend it on your music career. I try to help them out the best I can cause in the end if the product is good and they get buzz we all win.

Another thing too that I have done is do a contract to get a percentage of money off there LP sales. But of course you have to be sure they got buzz in your area this is something I would do if your selling to an independent label.

I GET ALOT OF GARBAGE AT MY DOOR DUE TO MY LOCATION AND THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE I ALREADY PRODUCE FOR MOST OF THE TIMES IF THE PERSON IS GOOD THEY WILL GET A $50 BEAT OR WE WILL GO IN THE LAB AND COLAB FREE OF CHARGE the 500 CHARGE IS ONLY FOR MUHH FUCKAS WHO R DUMB AND ENOUGH TO BUY A 500 BEAT AND UN TALENTED.. BY THE WAY i have only sold 2 500 dollar beats one to intoxicated from the oomp camp and one to maceo AND ITS DOESN"T MATTER IF THE BEAT IS MADE WITH A CASIO POKET KEYBOARD IF ITS GOOD ITS GOOD! REGARDLESS OF THE EQUIPMENT!!!! YOYU NEVER SEE THE EQUIPMENT WHEN YOU HEAR A CHART TOPPING SINGLE!
 
Wow.... calm down dude lol... I make most of my beats on fruity loops as well. But if people are buying then for that price, then you must be prety skilled as a producer. I havent heard much of your production other than those songs you have on your site and they are good but your great flow is what makes those songs great. Its great to see that you are trying to grow as a producer and not just grow as a writer which you are allready skilled at

It's a matter of opinion, but you got what you got, Do your thang "You heard"......All the thread starter asked about was prices, who charge what for what. This is an information board, don't take things personal. It's good to know that some people charge $500 a beat, it's good to know what's out there.............Keep Banging!

haven't read the stuff above...too much blabla, too many caps, I KNOW where this kind of threads go.

I voted "depends" but really I haven't charged people yet... people on my side of the world are not as willing to pay for beats as they are in the States...
 
Price are as follow:

-$200 for unsigned Artist
-$1000 for Indie Artist/Labels plus 2% of gross revenues genterated from any sales and all sales with the beat
-$1,500 for Major Artist/Labels plus 3% of gross revenues genterated from any sales and all sales with the beat

Boss Recordings maintains 100% copyright and ownership of the Original Instrumental

the deal with the beat was handled between me and thier lawyer i never directly sold to them so i don't know what happend to the beat after i sold it but i know they have the option to use it at their disgretion

Speaking as someone who buys beats all the time... I won't spend more than $150 on a beat. For a few reasons.

1. I'm not rich, buying a full albums worth of beats gets expensive.
2. There's too many dope producers trying to make it. I can find another beat just as good for a cheaper price, if I have to.
3. I'm guaranteeing you'll get publicity off my album, and that's much better than netting you a couple bills.

I sell a lot of albums, not a ton... but enough that I have to claim it on my taxes or Uncle Sam will take it all back... feel me? Anyway, the point is simple... If you want to hold out for a price that's unreasonable, because you think you're the hottest producer on the block, then kick rocks. There's 100 other cats who will take your place for a cheaper price...

If you sell me a beat, lease me a beat, or donate me a beat, you WILL receive full credit in my Album liner notes. I've moved almost 100 units in the last 3 weeks (new LP just dropped) from online sales alone, plus I do about 30+ shows a year. Basically, your music WILL be heard, and you will likely pick up more business from it.

I work with one producer who has worked with David Banner, Lil John, Missy, DMX, and plenty others, and he laced 3 tracks for my latest album and only charged me $450...

I'm not a known artist. Not even close.... But I am a seriously dope emcee, and I know that the producers who have been willing to work with me now, will be working with me when I get signed too.
