I bought a midi to joystick convertor

I plugged it in my casio ct-670 (I know toyshit dont laugh :) )
(in 2 in and out 2 out :) )
and connected it to my SB awe32 ...

I try to record in sonar .. but the record button is greyed out for some reason ...

but the rcord button is still gyyred out
when i focus on the audio track (where the VU meters respond to my keystrokes)
and the midi track from where I want to record the soundfonts i'e' output

You probably need to install the MIDI drivers for your soundblaster.

Tex is right...

Let me explain it step by step...

1. Install the MIDI driver.
2. in Sonar go Options --> MIDI Devices Select the input & Output to match SB MIDI Port

eg, like this...

Close it, now go Options --> Instrument. Pick the instrument deffinition for the port being used. If you don't find yours, for initial, just use General Midi.

Close it...

Now, in Track view, select one MIDI track (NOT Audio track!).
Follow the steps as shown in attached picture below...

1. Assign Input to Omni
2. Assign Output to SB MIDI Out <-- this goes to your keyboard... let it be this way first.
3. Channel 1 (Make sure different track has different channel, so next track should be 2, 3, etc... Drums ALWAYS Channel 10 ).
4. Select Bank
5. Select Patch
6. Hit "R" to arm the track. It means, the track is ready to record any incoming data. Without arming the track, the Record button will be greyed out.
