Well heres a question that's never been asked before (note sarcasm). How many tracks can i get with this:
P4 1.7Ghz (or possibly 1.8Ghz) 478 pin
Intel 845 Chip Winnepeg
30 gig 7200 RPM hardrive (for OS, music software and games)
20 gig 7200 PRM hardrive (for music)
512 MB PC133 SDRAM
and other stuff that wont effects the track count.
Im going to be using Logic Gold v5 (when it comes out to take advanted of the P4)
And a delta 66 omni studio pluss other equipment that wont affect track count

I'll probably be recording 16 or 24 bit at 44.1kHz
Assume track count is with only eq
The main thing I'd like to know is what the maximum track count i can get with Logic Gold (and could my system do this). The logic site say maximum of 64 with two Audio cards (which i dont have). Anyone else use logic gold or have any idea what id get?
I emailed Emagic but they were no help.Cheers
Edward

Mate come on... with that system I assume you will be able to get the entire amount, or close to, assuming you dont have shitload of plugins on the go on every track. Remember most people are never going to use more than 24 if even that!

Only the most epic productions will use more than that... you would have to have a drumset bigger than the guy out of Tool's with every drum mic'd separately to really feel the need to go much over 24.

Besides like me you are using the Omni so I assume that you do need need to make songs with such a huge number of tracks.

Or Terry Bozzio:

trust me that you are gonna record at 24 bit......with a 500mhz Celeron with just N-Tracks eq, i can get 24 tracks easy......I think youll give out before that system.....

Yeah but how many tracks does Logic Gold allow?

From the Emagic site

Logic Audio Gold offers a myriad of editing options with Event, Hyper, Score, Matrix, Arrange and of course, Emagic's revolutionary Environment. The maximum number of available audio tracks is 64*, sufficient enough even for more complex musical projects. Medium priced Digital Audio hardware options like Korg's 1212 card, Emagic's Audiowerk8 and Digidesign's Audiomedia II and Audiomedia III are fully supported. These systems can be used simultaneously with built-in AV/MME capabilities.

I assume this means that with one audio card you can have 32 tracks of audio.
