How many tracks can you record at once?

As a newbie to cubase vst/32 5.1
I am trying to record 8 tracks at once thru a motu 828 but I can only get 2 tracks to work.
What is the limit of tracks you can record on at once? Am I doing something wrong?

Have you activated all the inputs you need?

There is no inherent limit, it's more or less restricted by your computer resources...

I've done 8 without difficulty......
