trade mp3 files of your material back and forth with me and mine, see if we could collectively create a masterpiece? just a thought...i came to the conclusion, after a third beener, that i don't want to scale the musical mountain alone...i want to be able to look next to me and share the enlightening feelings with a fellow artist...or, at the most fundamental, gives us some inspiration.

I'd say hell no because making a collective mix out of mp3 track files (that is what you want to do right?) would sound like crap when you add them up (mp3 is quite a lossy compression format, and the more tracks you sum, the more you'll hear how bad it sounds)

But the idea's good...

that is a good point

you are right...compressing work to mp3 does make for loss of quality...i started with that suggestion, because i figured people would be too burdened with wav. files....humbled i am once again and an apology i offer for underestimating my colleagues... i have an idea for a website that will revolutionize the "common man" songwriting community... if you want details, e-mail me and we can discuss it..

I'm with you, samich17. I didn't get into music and recording for fame and forune, I got into it for health and happiness. I think there are some websites that facilitate what you're talking about already, in fact.

Doesn't such a website already exist?? I'm sure a saw a link in a thread on this BBS to a website where musicians could meet to record songs together over the net...

Doooh!!!

I'm a sloooooooow (very slooow) typer! (Shaz's answer wasn't there when I started typing my reply:) )

OK I am the one who voted "NO"... but not because I think you would steal my material...

Frankly I would just rather shoot myself in the head than colaborate on something with you... :D

all kidding aside, I currently prefer to work on writing my music by myself... I don't forsee myself colaborating with others any point soon.

Head on over to the site posted above. I've been in on at least 6 different songs over there. (4 of them mine). You can find 2 of my songs in the MP3 clinic....

or go here....

as far as the lossy/lossless thing goes.... if you've got broadband, exchange wav's or monkey compressed files. We've also used snail mail...

But at 160kbps, the MP3s sound pretty good....

No mater what, its fun as hell...
