I feel you there. To be even more specific, I keep getting more 6 string solidbody electrics. About 2 years ago I finally got an ES-335 knockoff, and then a few months ago I got an acoustic 12-string. It was kinda hard though, part of the internal dialog all "Yeah, I know an acoustic 12-string would bring entirely new sounds to my repertoire, but that one's V-shaped!"

Or, "Ooooh. Tobacco sunburst with tortise shell pickguard. And look! That one's natural maple. The flame on that is just perfect! And over there! Flat-top dual P-90!!!"

Aaahhhh!!!

Hey, Tragik

What's the 5-string, and why do you hate it?

Just curious.

The kicker for me is that I haven't played out anywhere since before I joined the military in 99, and some of them I bought (or am looking to buy) mainly just because they look different, like the DeArmond Jet-Star for example. The only people that ever see these things are me, my wife, the one guy who I was in a band with in highschool who flies down from New York every couple of months to jam, and my folks whenever they come to town.

Oh well. I like to look at them (and play them, of course), so it's reason good enough.

updated list:

83 Strat
88 Tele
2003 Ibanez Artcore
mid-80's Charvette
late 80's cheap Yamaha bass
a cheaply made nylon string classical that i got for free
80's Yamaha 6 string acoustic (FG400?)
80's Yamaha 12 string acoustic (FG410?)
2001 Martin D-15

what's missing is a Les Paul and a Fender Bass.

cheers,

Well, I'm pretty much the only one who sees them. I haven't played out since '81 or so. I sure don't want my wife to realize how many I have. I'm not sure I even want me to know how many i have.

I keep thinking about buying one of those Rogues. Not a JJ, but it's as close as I'll ever get.

That's my real problem. I keep buying more 6 string electrics, but all my life I've been wanting a sitar(guitar, well, a real one would be nice too, but), a 12 string acoustic, a 12 string electric, a 6 string banjo (look, I'm never going to learn to play a regular f'ing banjo, OK?), a dobro (OK two, one spider, one biscuit), etc., etc., etc..

I've got the same problem. :D
I do have an electric twelve string and two lap steels that I never play.

I'd like to get a resonator to go with that sitar guitar,and a baritone,and a fiddle,and a.......sigh.

OK, you win

If you've got two lap steels, then you have it worse than me...

Oh-oh!

I see some things that I've been looking to add to my collection!

A Dano, a black Tele Special II, and the flat-top double cut (except not in pukey TV yellow, sorry)

What's the one on the top right against the amp? Looks kinda like a Dano Hodad (the only Dano I don't want), but is that the 12?

It's a Hodad six string,I love it!$150 new on clearance, push pull pots, flat neck it's great.I believe the body is a copy of the Mosrite style.

I had a foam green U2 that I should've kept  .The metal nut and wood bridge gave it a very unique sound.

Never mind

After I blew up the pic, I realized that's not the Tele I thought it was. I want the Squire with the dual P-90s.

And I see that the 12 is the purple metalflake! I love that! How cool is that!

Man, if you ever want to sell that baby,...

See, Mosrites were one of the few guitars I ever definitely did not want. I've always thought Mosrites were ugly. But to each his own.

I like surf rock, have you seen the DiPinto's?

I like surf rock, but to me that's strats all the way. I know, Ventures and all that, but Beach Boys, Dick Dale = Strats in my book. A Jag or Jazzmaster thrown in.

Sorry, not diggin' the DiPintos either.

I sure wish I knew where I could pick up a Dano 12, especially for that price. The good ones are $$, and the cheap ones are shit.

You can get them pretty cheap, there's not much to them at all.

Not $50 cheap though. :D
The pickup on the Gretsch is really nice and the tone pot rolls off nicely. The Chandler,it's okay but not cheesey enough for me.
