How many guitar parts would you add?

Go ahead; this is the Internet, an hour doesn't go by where someone doesn't steal something. At least you were decent enough to ask first ;).And I manage to somehow play even that one out of tune :P

Thanks I'll quote you when I do.

And as for out of tune silence all I can say is

Keep adding guitars until it doesn't need any more guitars.

It's their song, let them do it the way they want. Just shut up, press record, collect the money, and go on about your business.

Shit like this is why I never, and will never, record other people.

To kind of answer your question, I personally like pretty minimalistic guitar tracks. A blazing rhythm on each side and sometimes a lead and/or accent rhythm track. That works for my style. But big layered guitars are good when done well. You don't hear it done well too often with home recorders though.

I think you need some autotune on that.
Personally I like stacking multiple tracks of silence, and hard panning them left and right.

Then I pop all that silence into my stereo and and turn the volume waaay up. That usually causes the mimes that live next door to come pounding on my door and making gestures like they're asking me to turn it down.

:laughings::laughings::laughings::laughings: Mimes :laughings::laughings::laughings::laughings:

Funny as poop Glen

I can't take full credit for the second part of that. Steven Wright used to do the same thing to his mime neighbors with a blank cassette.

Did you know he is a peripheral visionary? He can see into the future, only just way off to the side.

They may be worried that they won't be able to recreate it live.

Get yer earplugs, 'ere.....!

That degree of silence is bound to play havoc with your eustachian tube and tympanic membrane. Silence like that makes bands like Motorhead seem almost loud......
