Hi,

I think this is a common question...

Is it possible to tell sonar not to start recording my MIDI Track say Track 10 (for durm), until I trigger the any single key in Korg Triton ? If so, how can I configure Sonar ?

Thanks!

i'm not really sure what u mean, if u got a korg triton u would have to go to Global 1st, menu 2nd, then MIDI and turn OFF the locals and make midi external. Once thats done u press record in SONAR and play ur triton and it'll work that is if ur midi connects are correct...its IN goes to out and OUt goes to in

u should go to the cakewalk site and get the instrument definitions for the trition so you can control the triton sounds wit cakewalk

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I have done what you've said before and it worked (definiation and cable connection are all okay). But let me re-phase my question.

To make it simple, I would like Sonar "sync" with key-press of the synth.

When I pressed the "Rec" button in Sonar, it will count 2 bars then I can play the key from Triton. But sometimes because of the bad timing (it is my problem), the first note will not record in the VERY beginning of the first measure. In other words, the note will be fallen in say : 1:00:xx. where xx > 1

So I would like to ask if Sonar has a feature (MIDI sync ?) :

1) Press the "Rec" button in Sonar then "Play" button. Sonar does not acutally start recording.

2) Play any note from Triton

3) Sonar receives the note from Triton (MIDI-Out -> In) then starts the acutal recording.

Is it possible ?

I remembered my old Roland JV-1000 had similar features. It had a int. sequencer and it will not start recording until the first key pressed (key sync).

Hope you guys can have a better understanding of my question.

Regards!

Look up key bindings in Sonar's help files. It will do what you want.
