windows? ewwww.

that was a good joke about the vinyl records coming back! im sure the record companies would love to go back to the good ol' days.

the fact that worms are showing up as downloadable files at the p2p sites is fascinating. thats the way to fight piracy. keep coming up with ways to trick ppls into downloading infected files! eventually they will learn.

I just ordered (and paid for) three CD's from Amazon.com the other day. I must be the last of a dying breed.:(

Nope, I've never downloaded music from the net. My hard drive doesn't have enough space to fit the stuff. I usually can't afford CDs cause I spend my money on my studio so I either borrow or go without.:(

I'm an amazon.com-er, too

No, I'm with you on that. I order CDs from amazon.com and cdnow all the time. They're W-A-A-AY too expensive, granted, but I'm in Korea and need lots of new music so that I can maintain my sanity.

Er, well, not *NEW* music per se, but stuff I've never heard before. It's new to me.

Bruce in Korea

i ordered from amazon not too long ago. mostly concert videos. lou reed bob marley santana stevie ray vaughan jimi hendrix roy orbison otis redding king crimson etc.

i got a couple of cd's be bop deluxe tramway to tomorrow and live at the bbc.

the videos are great. more artists should have concerts on video. ive never tried to download video cause i have a dialup modem and downloads take too long.

Be Bop Deluxe! Man, I haven't heard them mentioned around here before! Live! In the Air Age is one of my treasured pieces of vinyl. I've never heard of Tramway or a BBC recording. You got these from Amazon? Got a link?

Thanx,

lou

just look for em at amazon.

live in the air age is a true guitar hero album.

the stuff on these other albums is very interesting. they could do the entire modern music suite in concert and very convincingly.

Like I said..treasured. I think I have all the vinyl they produced for US consumption. I gave up with "Beauty and the Beast". Just couldn't make the leap. Where is Bill Nelson now?

Thanx,

lou

beauty and the beast?

i gave up after red noise but i downloaded all i could of bill nelson from napster.

run a search on msn for bill nelson, be bop deluxe, or bebop deluxe.

the spelling matters!

thats just the search engine i used. the one from msn.

bill nelson has a website.

i think the guy went nuts around the drastic plastic album. its a pretty sad story once you look into it.

he is my all time favorite guitarist and i think anything by him is worthwhile to listen to even if its the weird stuff with drum machines and e-bow.

i also sought out all the bbd stuff on vinyl. the first thing i had was live in the air age when it was first released here. i stole it from a department store. i think i was 14 or 15. it had a black LP and a white EP.

Hey jeap,

The black and white records is the one I have! I paid for mine but a buddy stole the cassette! I didn't realize he had done so much other stuff after Be Bop Deluxe. I just couldn't get into the "style" he was pursuing.

Beauty and the Beast was released shortly after Drastic Plastic I think. The title was in french. La Beau et le bet or some such...ask Roel for a translation. The record I bought had a "scratch" in it so I returned it. I don't really remember much about it other than the great guitar playing wasn't there anymore.

I'm going to have to dig around the web some to find out what happened to Bill.

Take care - thanx,

lou

the guitar playing is still there.

it just sounds like keyboards!

red noise is the band he formed after drastic plastic.

drastic plastic was a big disappointment for me.

bebop was touring the states and i had a chance to see them in my state but i wasnt old enough to drive yet and the show was like 2 - 3 hours away...

the tribute sites and discographies you will find will show all the releases and all the details.

its shocking that live in the air age is unavailable! the greatest hot guitar performance ever.

the local library here had a bill nelson cd so i borrowed it and recorded it. about 60 short "tunes" none of which make ANY sense at all.

some of the stuff i got off napster is really good.
