Emerson Lake and Palmer's song "Lucky Man", the moog solo at the end, how do they make that sound? Is it by using portamento? Just curious, thanks.

PS: if anyone needs me to upload that part of the song in an mp3 to help me wth an answer i guess just ask. I kinda hoped that people would be familiar with the song already though hehe!

I think he's playing a pair of notes three octaves apart, and then maybe dropping the register on one of the oscillators to get the bigger bass hit.

no but i mean how does he make the notes smoothly connect to one another?

Im not talking about the tone etc, like how he gets some cool sounding bass etc.

Probably a pitch wheel for the octave stuff. Portamento is on, for sure, but that would be too wide a spread for that slow a drift.

Changing the filter cutoff frequency.

I think there are a couple of ways to get that effect, at least on the Voyagers. :D

The whole solo is done with portamento.

I achieve the three octave drops at the end by changing the the octave selector on my analog synth while holding D.
