How do you use both monitor speakers and headphones with Audiophile 2496

This might sound like a dumb question but anyway

I'm hoping to upgrade (to audiophile 2496) from an SB Live, which has two stereoouts, one goes to the speakers and one to headphones. (when I want to go out to tape I just whip the leads out of the speakers and stick them in the tape deck)

The audiophile has one pair of stereouts, so how do I use monitor speakers and headphones???

Can I route the audiophile straight through the SBLive (without the signal getting messed up by) so I can use one of the outputs for the headphones, say.

I'm concerned as I was just about to get the card when I realised this, and the Hoontech Value has a 1/8" monitor output which solves all the above, so maybe that's the better deal??

What about getting one of those micro mixer things and splitting the output into two, one to monitors, one to headphones??

I can't afford, like a proper mixer, if that's the only solution.

Oh boy, the details!!

You dont wanna route thru the SB Live...will definitely mess up your sound.....

I wouldnt get a Hoontech based on that feature....

technically, the Audiophile has two stereo outs, 1 analog and 1 digital.....is theres some way that could help?

Hi Gidge,

It would help if I had any idea what a digital out is. I've been wondering this for a long time. What is it. Anyone?

And the question is, can I plug speakers or a headphone into it and get sound.
Actually, maybe I'll make this into another post?

cheers
