how do you get more REP power

If you do some searches on rep power I think you'll find some of the threads that have already been created about this. Nobody is exactly sure how it works, but it seems like rep power is a combination of how much you post and your reputation points. Reputation points are what we can give each other if we like or dislike posts. So for example, if you find this post helpful, you could give me a reputation point for it. If you disagree with the post, you could take a reputation point away.
 
but beware of the evil people like jake-owa and his band of merry ass-bandits that will take rep points from you just because they can. heres a tip though....learn some stuff about recording and dont stress on what your rep is.....a good rep here wont get you a date to homecomming or prom....you're going to have to play a sport or something to do that :D it sure as hell wont get you laid....thats all i was worried about at 14....that and playing guitar.

Yeah, somebody knocked a couple points off my reputation recently. That hurt!

The trouble is, they can do it anonymously, so you don't know who took the points off or why. Although in the recent reputation point window there's a link to your post that caused the gain or loss of points. So you might be able to get a decent idea who did it from that.

It's always nice to get a little good feedback on your posts, so I always appreciate getting the points. I'm trying to remember to give out points when I read a good post, as well.

If a person has 0 rep power they cant give or take away points! I thought I would slip that in :D
 
So if I understand this correctly, the number of postive or negative reputation points you can give/take away is your rep power? So if you have a rep power of 2 that's how many you give at a single shot, and if you have 8 that's how many you give at a single shot?

Being a jock helps, but don't discount the aphrodesiac properties of playing the guitar. Chicks dig it! ;)
 
Ask intellgent questions when you have them and offer intellegent answers when you can. The people on this site who consistantly contribute positive information are appreciated, the people who post things of little value are tolerated.

Somehow one day I had a 6, don't know how I got it, don't know if that's good or bad, and I don't really care. I know that if I have a legit question, presented in an intelligent way, I will get valuable responses (which I appreciate) and if I can offer what little knowledge I have, I consider it the least I can do in exchange.

I've come to this site site for several years (and have learned much), from reading posts I can tell who knows thier shit and who's full of shit. If you spend some time on the site and contribute when you can, people will form opinions, regardless of the number assigned to you.

"...kicking myself because I knew better than to embark on such a journey without insuring the spare tire was holding air, I leaned against the car and put out my thumb in hopes that some other traveller might also decide to take this same 'short cut'.

After what seemed like an eternity, I could make out oncoming headlights in the fog... I grabbed my guitar from the backseat and thanked the powers-that-be for allowing the late model SUV to stop.

What awaited me within was too unbelievable for words: Three of the most beautiful hard-bodied creatures ever born on God's green earth. They were also headed to Nashville, but not for a Home Recording seminar, but instead were part of a larger troupe running a bit late for the regional College Cheerleading 'Cheer-Offs'.

Because of the late hour or the fact that they were running late, or perhaps a combination of the two, all of my cleverest, most charming one liners were met with rolling eyes and shaking heads... Just my luck... Fate drops me in heaven's lap and I can't even get so much as a giggle from any of them...

Since it was so late, it wa decided that we should grab some shut-eye before tackling the remaining 3 hours to Nashville, so the ladies pulled over at the first roadside motel that offered vacancy...

As fate would have it, there was only one room available for all of us, but it did have free Internet access and a computer. Based on the cold reception I received in the car, I figured I would just let the girls have the bed and I would resign myself to perusing The Cave or the Mic forums at HR.com...

Once I logged in however, one of the leggy beauties noticed my multiple chicklets and the size of my rep power... I heard the whispers coming from the bed turning to playful giggles and then felt a tap on my shoulder...

Well... needless to say... The Cave didn't get any posts from me that night..."

you have 2 rep points....thats not alot to beg for...bluebear and the other guys that have 10+ rep points are the ones i'd suck up to. if you need some rep from me..just ask. no need to kiss anything....i'm a bit homophobic so any guy kissing my ass will prompt me to beat him with an issue of playboy
