how do these drums sound?

sp b1 on kick, shure sm57 on snare, two oktava mk012s on overhead...

this is my friend messing around on drums. how is the quality? what can I do to improve it?

 
The overheads sound like they are maybe too close because the low tom sounds too hot. You might play around with where your OHs are pointing and you may need to raise them quite a bit. The kick drum didn't sound bad but could probably use a boost around 3-5k for some click. What I didn't like was the snare. How are you micing that? It just sounded real thin and brittle to me. I like a snare to sound a little more meaty.

Overall, it's not a bad job. Just a little tweaking and you'll have some pretty good drum sounds, IMO.

sounds a lot better than the first clip you posted thats for sure.
Im hearing a good amount of snare on the left speaker.
Wich is bad.
youll want it in the center.
Try putting the oktavas in a Y pattern directlty over the snare.
That should help the imaging aspect.
