Hi fellow home recorders...

I am recording on a daw with a Sound Blaster Live Platinum card with Live Drive and Behringer Mx2442a mixer. I have a few songs that i want to do a little mastering with the 362 BBE Sonic Maximizer. The question is, How do i do that without the live drive trying to record the same thing twice...It sounds like a echo effect or something. Anybody have any suggestions? Also, tell me the cords I would need to go about this the right way! Thanks- Charles

I don't want to burst your buuble but I wouldn't use it at all, IMHO. Normal tools like EQ and good engineering practices will get you a LOT farther to good recording than a BBE. I know, I have one and wish I didn't.

I asked on how do i Use it..ive previously used it and I PERSONALLY liked the sound of the device..others may not like the sound it gives your recording but I do. All iI wanted to know is how to hook it up.

I kind of like it and have read some "interesting" articles on various types of enhancers/exciters how to use them (as well as what they do or don't do and how they supposedly do it). I like the BBE and have the plug in. Unfortunately, I have the standard reply to your question. Depends on you and how you like your music. Enhancers/exciters are often sold as the "polish" to a final mix and that is one good way to use them. They are also usable as a way to add sheen to a particular track. So, (helpful aren't I) it kind of depends on you. I would add, that with my exciters/enhancers, a little goes a long way.

Take Care

Tjere was an article on tihs in the recent issue of "Computer Music".It was of course referring to the plugin version of the device however it seemed to be of the opinion that it should be used separately on every track and on the final master for best effect. They were using the plugins presets right enough... I am not aware of how to configure the hardware device manually.

Take a stereo signal from the soundcard's Line Out, run it to the BBEs Inputs (R&L), then bring the BBEs outputs back into the soundcard via the Line In. You will need (2) 1/8" Miniplug "Y" connectors and two sets of RCA cables.
