how do i use my pic for avatar?

how do i have a cool pic beside my name. i go into avatar and all i got is preset shit like yogi the bear. and for my signature is there anyway to use a html code to use my logo? i tried using the logo in my mywaste pages embed code and all it displays is the dumb code... thanks guys

and how do i change it to say something other than 'registered user' under my tag?
