how do I spice up this chorus intro?

I am kind of a beginner at recording and I want to know what I can do with the limited hardware/software I have, to make my guitar intro sound more like a stereo recording?

Here's the song:

- The gear I have: Ibanez gax70, M-audio firewire solo, NI Guitar Rig, Adobe Audition 1.5.

- My intro is a rough recording and is a patch I made in guitar rig. I was wondering how I can record it so that it won't clip (there's some clipping at some points of the intro), it sounds like it is in stereo, and doesn't sound like it's inside a box?

To stop clipping you simply need to turn it down somewhere in your gain staging. It sounds like it's in a box because it is in a box. It's a little too processed of a sound.

Try backing off on the effects and record the track over. Then choose a new track and while listening to what you just recorded with headphones, try to play the same exact piece over again dry or with less effects and record that. Then mix the two together. While mixing the two tracks try adding a little delay to one of them.

There is a zillion things to do, read, experiment and have fun.

I have a hard time fixing my levels with my firewire solo and the output sound. It's as if I have to increase the gain knob on my firewire solo to hear what I'm playing on the computer, then the clipping starts to happen. If I decrease gain knob, I can bearly hear anything.

On the effects, I really enjoy the processed sound of the chorus. I am trying to create a atmospheric mood with the chorus effect. I'm not sure what you mean by taking out the effects and recording dry with delay. I'm just trying to get my track to sound more like it's in stereo and doesn't sound behind a wall or in a box.

watch your levels going in and make sure they don't clip.
if you have a hard time hearing anything coming back off your computer...turn up your speakers (or probably headphones, since you don't want to turn up speakers with a microphone in your room).
hopefully your program either has a master control in it that you can turn up a bit, or you have a headphone/speaker knob on your soundcard or on your speakers themselves

The chourus to me sounds cheap and nasty (I'm a guitar purist though, so dont take it the wrong way)

If it was my track i'd have a slightly breaking up clean sound with a subtle delay and reverb on it.

Again, im a guitar purist so to make it not boxy i'd just stick an amp a couple of meters in front of a sofa (if your room is bad) and use a mic...crap. You don't have a mic.

Ok i'll try again. lol. Nice sound (as mentioned before) into the PC and in adobe audition add s nice reverb to give the appearence it's in a room that's what reverb does.
