i bought Pro tools M-powered 8, i have a fast track pro, i know how to create a midi track my problem is when i go to the mixer in pro tools..i see my midi track but theres no inserts for me to add in drumkit from hell superior or any other midi instruments like the grand piano

heres a pic of what im talking about. the right track is the midi with no inserts above it, and left track is the audio with inserts about it.

sorry for this question im really new to pro tools..im sure im doing something wrong lol thanks! :drunk:

Instead of using a midi track, use an instrument track and you'll be able to do exactly what you want.

The alternative is to route the output of the midi track to the input of an aux track, then insert the plugins on there.

An instrument track is essentially an aux track and a midi track combined.

Another note. There is literally hundreds of video tutorials on the basics of Pro Tools on Yuotube and Vimeo. I suggest you view them while you're learning. Good luck!

exactly as I think about it =)
I dont use instrument tracks a lot, but I do tend to use midi tracks and aux tracks, another trick is that you can setup one aux track with an instrument on it and setup two (or more) midi tracks and have the midi from the midi tracks going to the same aux track =)

Just want to point out that a MIDI track with inserts would be pointless since MIDI is data-only. There's no processing to be done.

can someone give me step by step directions how to do this? or find me a good pro tools video to watch on youtube about this?

Well you inserted a MIDI track.... Just insert an instrument track in exactly the same way. Easy.
