I just got Sonar 2.2 XL and am trying to get it running well, The problem is that when I encounter the CPU overload and the "audio stopped" occurs, I can only get "audio running" after re-starting my system???
I thought that the Yellow exclamation mark would do it but it doesn't.....

Could someone help me please...

Thanks,
V

...hhmmm, it's strange. May be you need to run the Wave Profiler again, and restart SONAR. And you can try to "share drivers with other programs". Click Options --> Audio --> Advanced tab... Does it help ? BTW, what's your soundcard ? And your OS ?

All I ever had to do was hit the play button again and it fired right back up. Did you try to click the 'run audio' button? You probably did, but I can't figure out why you would have to restart. When that happens, can you still move around in the program and save your work before restarting? How often is this happening? Need more input!!

oooops!! Guess you did say you hit the audio button.....my bad. Still a strange one, though.

It depends on how your drivers are written. I had the exact same problems with the old drivers for my soundcard (Inca88, driver version 3.20)...

Audiotrak admitted that there was something wrong with the drivers when I emailed them, and 6 days later they released version 3.6 of their drivers, and I never saw the problem again! Now, that's Tech Support if I ever saw it!:D Or I was just lucky... ;)

Yeah, how about this forum ? We released everything in six minutes... :D

Thanks for the quick replyies folks, I am running the following-=

P4 2.4
asus p4pe
1 gig of ram
20+80+80 wd hd's
Mia Midi
Sonar 2.2

I have just started this, got it hooked up yesterday.....

I am listening to the "audio and midi demo" and just playing along and the CPU will read about 20% .....
The, all of a sudden, for no apparent reason it maxes out and "audio stopped" occurs.......Problem is I can't get it back...
I push play and it will try for about 1 second then immediatly go back to "stopped?????

P.s. I am trying to get it tweaked thru trial and error and it is very difficult when I have to "restart" at each error....

Thanks alot for you interest in this, I have been reading these posts for years... and I finally took the plunge.

Thanks,
V

It might help to rise the latency just a tad... ;)

Well, yes of course: We rule! :D

But we can't write new drivers for the guy.... ;)

XP Pro...I don't know what service pack.
Should I check this out ??

Thanks,
V

As long as it's WinXP it shouldn't be that big difference... But if you haven't installed Service Pack 1, you might want to do it. ;)

It's odd, I can do just about anything but play audio..

Even if I close sonar and then reopen, it still won't work untill I restart the computer itself ????

Thanks,
V

What if you try another audioplayer, say Winamp or Windows Media Player. Will it play audio then after a "crash"?
