I've had no luck recording with a couple of freebie recorder programs, or with Windows Recorder. I've tried using a cassette player to PC, and a stereo with cassette to PC, and all I've gotten for my trouble is an extremely faint recording with my speakers up full blast. I can't blame it on my sound card because I've tried this same routine on 2 different computers, one had no recording at all. I feel I must be doing, not doing, something.

I have a patch cord from the stereo/cassette player Line-Out with an adapter from the 2 stereo plug ends to the PC Line-In jack of my sound cards. I have toggled on/off every multimedia, soundcard, volume and device control I can find on either computer to no use.

Can someone please tell me where the GO BUTTON is?? I really appreciate any help! Thanks.

You should do a search on this topic (on this BBS).

Because I know that this question has been answered before.

Look in the top right hand corner of this page to run a search.

Peace...:)

Yo Sundown: [I think there is an old standard song called "Sundown." Correct me if I'm wrong old Chicago pals.

You might post Emeric about recording cassette tapes to CD. He has done one for me and it came out fine. The CD sound is the one I want to get and I'm going toward it at this very moment.

I have recorded from vinyl to CD, and I'm pretty sure the process is the same for cassette. I used a program called Spin Doctor, which is part of Adaptec's EZ CD Creator Deluxe program (Spin Doctoc only comes with the Deluxe version).

If I recall, I simply connected the line outs from my reciever into the line in on on my sound card using a Y adapter from Radio Shack (two female RCA plugs into 1 male stereo 1/8"). Make sure the "line in" for recording is enabled in the Windows Mixer (sounds like you've been there already).

You then record to .wav files on your hard drive. You can then use EZ CD Creator to burn the .wav's to CD.

Got it together now!

I kept working with it, spent a couple days reading the BBS posts here and others, and finally found a little program called Total Recorder that did the trick. It recorded whatever came throught the sound card.

I also found a suggestion to run a patch cord from the Headphone jack of my stereo to the Line-In of the sound card... that seemed to work best for my particular setup. The sound was much cleaner.

GreenHornet: The song "Sundown" was by Gordon Lightfoot back in the mid 70s... obviously one of my favorites, hehe.

dachay2tnr: While researching my problem and searching for software I discovered Easy Cd Creator and I ordered the Deluxe version yesterday. I'm glad to hear your comments about it.

I appreciate everyone's responses and help. Thanks folks. I'll continue to read this BBS, it's great!

I think you can also download a free version of SoundForge. check

This might give you some options once you have recorded you music into the computer.

Peace...
