I've a very simple set up right now. A mic going into a trakmaster preamp, and then going into a 2496 card. The 2496 outputs goes into a hifi receiver where i can use the headphones to track and monitor recording. So far, i've done recordings my micking amps, guitars, playing along to the recording via the headphone jacks. What i'd like to do is plug my bass guitar directly into the "instrument" jack of my premap and into the audiphile card. The question though is how do i listen and play/record along when my guitar is plugged directly into the instrument jack of preamp? Since the 2496 card's output goes to a receiver with headphone jacks, i can listen to previously recorded tracks thru this headphones, and play along, but since the bass guitar is directly plugged into the preamp, i can't hear it at all?

I have a little UB502 mixer not being used at this time. Would this be of some use to accomplish this task?

thx in advance.

The mixer should work. I'm not familiar with that mixert but you should be able to take the output of the 2496 and go into the tape in or something like that into the mixer then have the monitor outs on the mixer go into your HiFi receiver.

no man, since you're recording into your soundcard just use a multi-track recording program.

what are you recording into right now??

Ben,

I'm using Cooledit Pro v2.0. I can hear the other previously recorded tracks thru the head phone alright, but it's the bass which i'm recording that i can't since it's plugged directly into my preamp, then into the Audiophile card. Before, it was plugged into an amp that i miked, meanig i could hear what i'm playing, in addition to the previously recorded tracks in cooledit.

Am i making sense?
thx
