Hi all,
I am new to digital recording and have a very tight budget. I am considering buying an older Sony MDM X-4 just to get started cheaply on live recording. I also am considering buying a used Zoom 1266 or Tascam 788. I will initially be doing live recording with all editing done after the gig. I guess I may not understand the power of these portable recorders, but doing editing on a PC with a user-friendly menu just makes sense to me. Comments?
If I want to use my home PC for storage and editing of the recorded data how can I download it from the Sony MD recorder? Actually, in a larger sense, how can data be downloaded from any device if it does not provide CD burning capability or USB connectivity? Am I limited to going through the soundcard real-time with audio input? This method seems sort of archaic if my guess is correct. Thanks for the help, there is a lot for me to learn.
