I need to simply and inexpencively improve the audio in my webcam and intergrate a condenser mic. I am a TOTAL NEWB at this. Can I just plug the new mic into a mixer and the mixer into my computer and replace the audio on my webcam, or do I need some software and more hardware? I just want to record audio and video of me singing to assorted karaoke tracks, but I want the audio to be better. Thanks.

pezking, right now I am only using my logitech webcam to record audio and video onto my computers hard drive. I want to get a condenser mic to improve the audio but dont know what else I must buy to make it work. I have seen people on youtube using real mics with their webcams, thats all I want to do. I have not bought anything yet (other than my 100$ webcam last week) because I am a clueless newb without much money. I just want to get the bare boned basics I need, but I'm not sure what that would include. I know I will need phantom power and computer interface for the mic(something inexpencive but works decently), but thats about it. I figured I would need some kind of software but no idea what(clueless newb).

Here is what I was looking at buying so far. A a MXL 990 Condenser Microphone for 60$ & a Behringer Xenyx 802 for 60$(power, interface, mixer) & Is this a good start & what else will I need please?
