How Do I Home Record On My Computer??

hey wats up there people...i was wondering how i should start recording on my computer... i have a cakewalk homestudio version 2 xl software (is this software good???) and dont know how to use it and plus i have no soundcard... what do i need to make my studio and how do i work it......money isnt an object so give me some tips on wat i should get for my computer.....I'm a guitarist so i'm farely new at this recording stuff... please help, i really need some expertise advice......thanks...

Having said that, make sure you computer has the power to record audio effectively. This includes a powerful central processor, a fast hard drive, plenty of RAM, and plenty of storage space. Next look at options for getting sound into the computer. There are basically two: A soundcard that installs inside your machine or an external firewire/usb unit. Then decide what type of studio monitors you will use to listen during recording and mixdown. A pair of good headphones are also helpful. When you've looked at some of these choices, you can think about microphones and perhaps room design.
