how do i get the ecm8000 mic clips onto a normal mic stand? they seem to be a slot smaller than normal ones...

Un-screw the little insert inside of the mounting clip, then it should fit the regular 1/2" pipe thread stands.

ok now i just have to find something big enough to fit in there to unscrew it...

why do they come like that?

Try a spoon.
Mine came that way, in fact, most of the mics I have came with the smaller insert in them. Go figure? Most mic stands use the larger threads.

You can unscrew them with a guitar pick, or take a flathead screwdriver and kind of lodge it in there sideways, one little twist will losen it enough.

I've never seen a mic stand that didn't have the larger threads. In fact, there's probably an insert still stuck to your stand, you could just remove it.

shit i just unscrewed mine and damn were they tight... a guitar pick yould have broken. but thanks for the info...

slackmaster, what do you mean by an insert stuck to my mic stand? my mic stand has the bigger threads...

All those inserts have two notches, to allow them to be removed easily, using almost any coin you might have in your pocket.

Harvey, we need some terminology here!

Big threads = what we usually find at the end of a mic stand.
Little threads = what a mic clip wants

There's got to some lingo here, help us out!

lucid,

If you're taking an insert out of a clip to get it on a mic stand, then the mic stand has the smaller threads (spaced closer together). Sometimes the that little tip portion of the stand will screw off (e.g. it had like a built in insert). Maybe not in your case....whatever :)

The ultra technical mic clip thread thingy thread!

Harvey's coin method sounds great, but all I carry around are $1000 dollar bills! I use guitar pics...but they are extra heavy...and I guess I did break on once when I was using it as a screwdriver.

Not real sure but I think the little dudes are for Euro stands(Behringer's German).

why do mic stands have to be so confusing...

i ended up getting them out with my trusty swiss army knife.. mine were screwed in damn tightly...

i am actually very pleased with these mics.. i mean, an adequete case, windscreen (that doesn't fit) and clip (not to mention the mic itself) for 35 dollars!

i had a bitch of a time getting it over here though... someone here knew someone coming from the staes, so i ordered it online and had it sent to them, then they gave it to the 'middleman' who subsequently gave it to me... and this all took almost 2 months!

when you can find mics here they are horribly expensive... AKG c1000s costs about 315 US! ridiculous..!

Import taxes.

Mine were jammed in tight. Used the back end of my hammer as a screw driver, and it fit the notches perfectly and let me torque the suckers out. Not a frickin thing else would do it.
