How do I get a drive from NTFS to FAT32?

In a failed attempt to reformat an HD24 drive to my XP DAW, I ended up at NTFS. I also selected 'dynamic' instead of 'partition' which may have been my first wrong turn.
Unlike the other drives in the format tools, FAT32 is not one of the selections.

I would have to assume that the Alesis ADAT HD24 only uses the FAT32 file system.

Well .... maybe not, after looking at the FAQ .
I don't know. Maybe the HD24 can reformat FAT32 to ADAT/FST, but can't recognize NTFS

So far i have stayed at fat32 to keep compatibility with our two pc's. I had (have) several drives with existing audio and projects on them in that format when I went to the XP daw.
I would like to get there (NTFS).

Ah .... I see
You are using a HD24 drive in a DAW ... not in the actual Alesis. I'm a little slow .... but I catch on. :D
Partition Magic will do it then.

When I loaded the HD drive, initially it didn't come up in explorer for fromating, but found it in the xp tools'.

Thanks crankz1.
I was hoping I could just wipe the drive out and start over.
I just love working outside of my forte'. :o

Control panel\Administrative Tools\Computer Management\Disk Management ....
Right click on the drive and select format...
It should give you the options for File system and Allocation unit size.

You want NTFS - especially when working with files for audio/video.... FAT has a silly filesize limitation (4 gig) which is a huge issue, particularly for video files.

True for when I don't have one at 98 and one at xp.

That is where I've been going to do this. I started fresh this mornig, wipped' the NFST with another format back in the HD24, then back in the xp, but again FAT32 was not given as an option.
And thank you for the google' point. I did some good reading there. :D

If you have the computers networked, you can use the NTFS system to copy files through the network to the other computer that is FAT32. The files will transfer fine.
