how do I EQ my synth keyboard track?

I'm pretty much a beginner at recording and combining different sounds and I find my songs all muddy when they are processed together.

Here is an example of my work I recently did:

I was wondering how I can make the keyboard pad be in the background without muddying up the entire track. I want to separate the piano track and make the piano stand out above the pad.

What do you guys think I can do?

Highpass filter on the pad, and a little bit of compression on the piano so its average level rises above the pad better.
