I am using an Edirol UA-1000 (USB audio interface). It has 8 analog in/out plus another 2 digital (S/PDIF) in/out. What's the cheapest way to convert two analog audio into S/PDIF so that I have a 10-input (analog) setup? Is there some cool adaptor? I sure hope I don't have to buy a $200 box just to do the conversion!!

yes you have to buy a $200 box to do the conversion. You have a few choices:

ART Di/o ~$149 (last time I looked) artproaudio.com
TC Electronics M300 ($199) which is an effects processor that has full bypass with a S/PDIF converter

and others too, but these are the lowest cost options

I use the M300 with my Audiophile 2496 to have 4-in/out
