How do I connect my Roland VS880EX tp computer and record with cakewalk???

I have a cpu with cakewalk pa9...i have a vs880EX also....My plans are to connect my VS to the computer so that when I record the VS can be used as a pre amp or some sort and as soon I record the tracks go through the VS and directly into the Cakewalk. What do I have to do to get that to work like that?..Also how do I configure the two so that I can dump tracks from the VS to the Computer for editing and all extra stuff....

Need same help

I appreciate you asking this question... I'm REALLY new to digital recording - just bought a used VS880EX (I think it's an "EX" - does that just mean it has the expansion effects card in it?) and I just posted a question about an external SCSI drive.

I feel bad because I don't have the experience that the rest of these folks do, and I don't want to bother them with too much "newbie" stuff.

I also have Cakewalk (and N-Track) and would be curious about how to make the connections that you asked about.

Mostly I'm curious about whether I can connect the VS880 to my PC (not a stand-along external drive) and somehow backup (or edit) my data that way.

PLEASE let me know what you learn about this process.
