How do I buy a used Macbook?

I am a recreational musician and have always enjoyed recording music in spare time. I would love to pick up a used Macbook to work with garageband and make simple music. I am currently using an old EMac from the stoneage with Garageband 1! It's time to upgrade....Can somebody help me find a reliable source to buy a used Macbook and minimum requirement setups.

As far as specs go.....search the forums. This topic has been covered about half a million times.
 
Either go for a MacBook Pro or one of the older pre-unibody MacBooks with FireWire. In the long run, you'll thank me for that advice.
 
how does reaper compare to garageband? am i missing out on anything with reaper? am i gaining anything?

Just go to that website and read around about it. The site could tell you way more than I ever could in one little post. But it's like $40, with an unlimited/uncrippled free trial. So you can "try it out" for 3 years or longer and still have the full program...they just suggest (as do I) to pay the license. It's immense and well-rounded as far as sequencers go and will do just about anything short of higher end ProTools and Logic software.

So if you cut your computer budget in half and buy a PC and spend $40 on Reaper...you will come out way ahead on money, and at the very worst....have an equal system (but, in reality, your system will be better than a used macbook with garageband).

Watch geeks.com. They show up intermittently and go fast. Be patient.
 
Also, you should watch out for deals on refurbished Macs. They're typically about 20-25% off the new price, but come with the same warranty as a new machine, IIRC. It's a good way to save a chunk of change.
