I just downloaded bearshare into my computer and I need to download songs from the files in my computer, (downloaded from bearshare), and on to a CD. I'm not sure how to do that? do I just download a CD burning program from the internet, or do I also need to buy a CD burner for my computer on top of it? if I can do either or, which is the best way???, would it be easier to get an MP3? Okay I know these are alot of questions and they seem pretty stupid to me but I know very little about this and it would really help to get some answers. Thank you so much!!!!!

If U wanna burn a CD ur gonna need 2 get a burner installed on ur PC - this is just like any other CD drive, but can burn as well. U normally get a program with it.

So, no you can't jus download something 4 it 2 work - u need 2 add a new CD drive w/ burning capabilities.

Sauce,

First, you will need both a CD burner and a CD burning application or program. Normally, when you buy a CD burner it comes bundled with burning software to get you started. Also, from what I can tell you are downloading MP3s.

For the sake of higher quality audio and the careers of artists you are ripping off stop using these types of programs. Just because someone wrote an app that allows you to commit theft does not make it right, you are still stealing. How would you feel if at the end of the week, someone uploaded your paycheck and everyone with a certain program and an internet concection had dibs? You'd probably be pretty bitter right?

The music you enjoy was not made for free. We're talking millions of dollars in the production of an album and millions more in the promotion and duplication. We're talking about people losing careers here, how do you feel about contributing to that?

Programs like Bearshare, Kazaa, Audio Galaxy among others are a huge detriment to the recording industry. Now their sinking their teeth into the film industry. You think creative producers, directors, artists and actors and going to want to continue creatively pursuing their craft if they are not rewarded properly? If people don't want to pay for it, why deliver a cutting edge production, why deliver at all? Would you work for free?

Think about this before you continue using the application in question. Also think about the fact that you are posting this question in a community of musicians and producers. We are trying to get into the industry and people like yourself are helping close the door in our faces. People like yourself are helping close the door on creativity.

Think about it.

PS. If you want free music check out www.NowhereRadio.com and www.mp3.com. These are sites filled with independent artists that want, and give you permission to, download their music. These acts want to get out to a larger audience so they give their tunes away for increased exposure. Support music don't steal it.

I just downloaded that program into my computer and I only downloaded one song, however, I didn't think for one minute that it was so bad, I didn't even realize what I was really doing, besides just downloading a song, it was not my intention to commit theft. So I do apologize if I insulted anyone on this website. I also thought about the person who told me about the website ( I consider her to be a very genuine, stand up, honest, compassionate and well deserving person), and I know it doesn't make it right, espiecially after the way you put it, but I don't think she mean't any harm either, as a matter of fact the only reason she does that is because her parents are really poor and they can't afford to buy CDS at what they are priced now, they are too busy trying to put her through school and putting food on the table, (and barely doing it). If I remember correctly she also tries to buy CDS every chance she gets,(she loves music), whenever the funds are available, I know this because financially I try to give her all I can to help her, I've even mailed her food. So I guess what I'm trying to say here, besides, sorry if I insulted anyone is I think you have to look at other sides. Someone like me can definitly afford to buy them, but there are people out there that maybe use those programs because that is the only way they can listen to the artists they adore, they do love and support thier artists too, they just don't have a penny, literally.
and I know it doesn't "justify" it. Also, when you copy someones tape (that they bought from a music store) with the buyers permission, is that considered theft?? or when you copy a song that is played on the radio station?? I guess it is, and I guess this "theft", has been commited since music began recording.
Thank you for all your feed back, I do appreciate it.

Yeah, what stray said.
There are lots of free MP3s out there that artist do want you to listen to, like on NoWhere radio. To make your own discs you will need a CD burner, CD burning software, and if you want to make a real audio disc to play in any CD player, you will also need an MP3>WAV converter. :)

mp3 wav converter?

what is an mp3 wav converter and what is it for?

thanks!!! you guys have been a big help!!!!!

MP3s cannot be played in a standard CD player. There are some that read them though. The MP3>WAV converter is necessary because WAV is the format that converts to an audio disc. They are slightly different thatn data discs. There may be other formats that conver to audio discs, but I don't know about that. There are free converters on the web. :)

Try searching for Music Match Jukebox, it's a good program 'coz it'll play ya music, convert it and even burn it! (if you have a burner, that is)

An Mp3 > Wav converter is basically a program that changes the file type from the first one (mp3) to the second one (wav) don't worry, you don't lose ya original file.

An' don't worry about the "illegally downloading free music" incident - every1 makes mistakes:)

Just chill + take everything from every perspective an' you'll be fine......
