How can I "tighten" up my midi drums?

I have a pretty decent sense of rhythm (even though I'm a guitarist) and my midi drumming isn't horrible, but I'd like to be able to tighten it up somewhat. How does the quantitize feature work? When I used it, it through my kick drum into some awful off beats. Any ideas or solutions?

Using Sonar XL and an Oxygen 8. Mostly rock and metal type music.

for starters, maybe your resolution on the quantize was set too low. basically the quantize takes a sound and puts it closest to whatever time interval you set. I've never used the quantize function successfully to get the results I want. I have better luck using an EVENT EDIT feature...do you have this?

You can basically go in and edit the exact time, note, and velocity of a hit. Once you get a loop the way you want it, you can copy & paste.

A 4/4 song will quantize best at 1/16th notes but will vary with the style of drumming and how bad you might be off.
